Hello there! My name is Cindy (she/her) and I’m the designer for The Knotty Disco. My entire life I’ve been a crafter and a maker. School dioramas were my jam! They always had a bit of unique flare. In high school I started a handmade jewelry business and even crafted my own pieces for prom! But it was my years at Burning Man that really solidified my lust for creativity. After spending several years in fashion marketing, I opened up my Etsy store. At first it was only a side hustle but I’m so thankful that it has grown and life has allowed me to craft with my hands every day!
Inspiration for The Knotty Disco comes from a lot of important people in my life. My two grandmothers, one who has an amazing green thumb and has collected and cared for many plant babies. The other whose favorite music era is disco. She can still dance all night to The Bee Gees! My husband, who designed and created the very first disco hat to wear at Burning Man. He motivates and supports me every day. And one of my best friends who’s my creative spirit animal. She made a stunning macramé backdrop for my wedding and helped me fall in love with the craft.
